Using Planteray's signature double-aging method, the Extra-aged Belize 2008 Rum spends 13 years maturing in Belize before being shipped by boat to the Charente region in France, where it undergoes an additional 2 years of aging in former Ferrand Cognac barrels. The result is a perfectly matured spirit that opens with bold notes of bourbon, vanilla, and cinnamon, followed by layers of citrus, licorice, and tobacco. The finish is rich and lingering, with deep flavors of dried fruits and roasted coffee. A tropical escape in every sip.

Elaboration:

Aged for 13 years in Belize, then two years in Ferrand cognac casks in south-western France.

Rhum Plantation Becomes Rhum Planteray—But the Craftsmanship Remains Unchanged

Under the direction of Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel, this singular House embraces a truly original approach—bringing together two distinct traditions and cultures to create a groundbreaking range of rums.

Whether blends or vintage releases, every expression benefits from a unique ageing process known as double ageing. Sourced from some of the finest distilleries in the Caribbean, these rums are first aged in tropical conditions before being shipped to the Charente region of France. There, they undergo a secondary maturation in Ferrand Cognac barrels, adding remarkable depth and complexity to the final spirit.
