AWARDS

Robert Parker : 98/100

Wine:

Rated 98/100 Parker, the 2019 Red Mendoza Cheval des Andes scores another success. Returning to a blend similar to the origins of the wine's creation, equal parts Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, this vintage was piloted by a Frenchman, Gérald Gabillet, who was newly appointed cellar master. With a revised maturation with more barrels from the Stockinger cooperage, for some added finesse, the wine shows great balance, and is ripe to perfection. Still shy at this young stage, it already has all the elements of a certain aging potential; tannic richness, structure and length make an exciting version of this star wine!

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Aged in barrels ranging from 225 liters to 2500 liters with 50% new wood.

Color:

Bright, deep ruby red.

Nose:

Aromas of black red fruits underlined by peppery and roasted notes.

Palate:

Elegant and powerful, this wine offers velvety tannins, a remarkable blend of these two grape varieties that complement each other perfectly.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Provençal or curried lamb, Teriyaki beef, chicken tagine.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2030, and even more for enthusiasts

Founded in 1999, Terrazas de Los Andes seamlessly combines French expertise with Argentina’s exceptional terroirs. Nestled on the steep slopes of the Andes in Mendoza, the vineyard stretches between 980 and 1,800 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking landscapes. Renowned worldwide for the intensity and character of its wines, the estate has earned enduring acclaim, securing its position among the most sought-after wineries in the world.

The Cheval des Andes cuvée is the result of a partnership between the legendary Château Cheval Blanc and the Argentine bodega, sourced from 50 hectares of secluded vines within the Andean estate. This wine captures the essence of the bodega, skillfully balancing South American power with the finesse of Bordeaux elegance. As such, it holds a unique and distinguished place on the global stage.
