The estate and the wine |
A standout estate in the Northern Rhône Valley, Domaine de Bonserine produces some of the most captivating wines in the region. With a remarkable heritage of old vines, exceptionally refined ageing, and a precise understanding of ripeness, their cuvées offer a rare harmony—combining intensity with elegance in the most nuanced way.
In Côte-Rôtie, Bonserine draws from the appellation’s most legendary sites—Côte Blonde, Côte Brune, Moutonne, and Sarrasine. These steep, historic slopes around Ampuis are home to old Serine vines, a local strain of Syrah known for its aromatic complexity and structure. On the white wine side, the estate maintains its reputation in Condrieu, consistently capturing the essence of Viognier with clarity, precision, and a beautifully natural expression. |

The 2023 Condrieu Les 3 Lieux White shows beautiful ripeness and a true sense of place, capturing the essence of Viognier with refined aromas of bergamot, white tea, and wisteria. Aged in large oak barrels (demi-muids), the wine keeps its aromatic clarity, letting the floral and stone fruit flavours shine—peach, apricot, and a hint of citrus zest. The palate is silky and well-balanced, carried by the natural freshness of granite-rich soils. It’s a graceful, expressive Condrieu—perfect to decant now or to cellar for another year or two. Scored 95/100 by Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World. |
