The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine La Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) is a Spanish legend. This Rioja estate, still family-run after 140 years, holds a special place in the hearts of wine lovers, elevating the quality and standards of Spanish winemaking to new heights.

Their wines, carefully aged in barrels, are icons of Rioja Alta, often compared to the top-classed growths of the Médoc. Especially those from the villages of Villalba, Briones, and Torremontalbo, on the clay-limestone foothills of the Sierra at altitudes of 500 meters or more, where the grapes benefit from a cool climate and pristine natural surroundings, bordered by forests.

A true myth in Spain, CVNE is revered worldwide, with its wines consistently meeting the highest standards by combining the wisdom of traditional winemaking with the latest innovations.
Wine One of Spain's most accomplished wines, the Rioja Imperial Reserva Red 2019 is a stunning blend of power and finesse. Sourced from the estate’s oldest vines, this wine comes from an exceptional vintage with beautifully ripe fruit. Aged for two years in oak, one-third in American barrels, it receives the estate’s utmost care, offering a complex aromatic profile of wild berries, licorice, spices, with balsamic and smoky notes. The smooth texture, with elegant tannins, lingers on with a long, fruit-forward finish.
Vinification Hand harvested in crates. Grapes refrigerated on transfer to cellar. Fermentation in oak vats. Maceration for approximately 20 days. Aged for 24 months in oak barrels, 30% American oak and 70% French oak.
