The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A trusted name in Burgundy, Verget is one of our favourite estates, with whom we’ve built a strong and lasting relationship. This partnership has led to the creation of bespoke cuvées, blended by Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World, and exclusively reserved for our members.

Now under the expert direction of Julien Desplans since 2016, continuing the legacy of Jean-Marie Guffens, Verget remains a proud ambassador of Burgundian excellence. The estate is renowned for its precision-crafted whites, known for their refined, fresh, and vibrant profiles, as well as its equally accomplished reds, which are fruit-forward and impeccably balanced. Rivalling the ageing potential of Burgundy’s greatest wines, Verget’s cuvées consistently rank among the finest.
Wine Blended from the finest terroirs of the appellation, including several Premier Cru sites, the 2022 White Pouilly-Fuissé Quintessence offers a well-defined aromatic profile, combining notes of dried fruit with a subtle toasted character that adds depth. The palate is dense and richly textured, balancing creaminess and acidity with remarkable finesse. This is an immediately approachable wine, showcasing a generous and refined style while maintaining perfect balance. An ideal pairing for river fish in cream sauce, poached poultry, or fine cheeses. Rated 96/100 by the Selection Committee.
Vinification Hand-harvested. Selection of first juices only from parcels in Fuissé and Vergisson. Vinification in barrels, 20% of which are new, then aged for 8 months.
