The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A young Burgundy micro-négociant, Paul Gayot is a rising star that hasn’t gone unnoticed. And for good reason: the estate selects the finest vineyard parcels, crafting cuvées only from the most prestigious terroirs. Take this Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Champs Perdrix, for example, from vineyards adjacent to La Tâche and La Grande Rue, not far from Romanée-Conti—some of the most exceptional sites in the region!
Wine From stony soils located above the parcels of La Tâche and La Grande Rue, near Romanée and Romanée-Conti, the 2022 Red Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Champs Perdrix is the essence of silky, voluptuous Pinot Noir. It fully expresses ripe, fresh, and powdered fruit, absolutely delicious and inseparable from this prized terroir. The ripe and concentrated texture, both elegant and refined, with hints of fresh raspberries and a well-integrated noble oak, offers an almost perfect interpretation of Vosne. Extremely well-balanced, delicious, and convincing, this wine has an aging potential of eight to ten years. A benchmark for the appellation.
Vinification Hand-harvested, alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, daily pumping-over and light punching of the cap.
Malolactic fermentation in barrel, aged for 9 to 12 months in barrels, 20% of which are new.
