The estate and the wine |
Nestled in the heart of Côte Rôtie, Jean-Michel Gerin masterfully interprets the region's king grape variety, Syrah. Never sparing any effort and always at the forefront of quality trends, this estate embodies the modern success of the Northern Rhône. Under his guidance, the purest expressions of Syrah emerge, marrying unparalleled concentration with a sleek and refined structure. However, every silver lining has its cloud: adored by critics and wine enthusiasts worldwide, the estate is perpetually short on supply. Having access to its wines is a rare privilege! |

The Côte Rôtie La Viallière Rouge 2017, a single-vineyard selection of Syrah planted on 1.75 ha of mica-schist hillsides, is a testament to generosity and concentration. The intense and deep black fruit melds with a rich body, framed by luxurious aging with 70% new oak, featuring notes of black olive, moka, and violet. It can be enjoyed after decanting and has the potential to age gracefully until 2032 or beyond. Rated 91-94/100 by Parker. |
