The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine At the very top of his game and awarded two stars by the Revue du Vin de France — a leading French wine guide — Domaine Marcel Richaud continues to shine brightly in the southern Rhône Valley. A meticulous and visionary winemaker, Marcel Richaud played a key role in elevating Cairanne to Cru status, helping bring this once-overlooked corner of the Côtes-du-Rhône into the spotlight.

A true pioneer of single-parcel selections and organic farming, he explored every nuance of these varied terroirs with precision and passion. Today, that legacy lives on through Claire and Thomas, who carry the torch with the same commitment and energy.

The estate’s wines are bold, beautifully shaped, and deeply rooted in the Mediterranean landscape — standing proudly among the finest ambassadors of their region.
Wine The 2023 Cairanne Red is all about generosity and depth — a bold, sun-drenched Southern Rhône that immediately draws you in. With a good dose of Mourvèdre in the blend, it leans into the darker, more savoury side of the spectrum: think roasted herbs, smoky meat, warm stones and a touch of black olive. The palate is rich yet fresh, with silky tannins and that vibrant lift that keeps everything perfectly in balance. A wine to enjoy slightly chilled, but one that will also reward a few years in the cellar. Rated 95/100 by our Selection Committee — and without a doubt one of their top picks this year.
Vinification Hand-picked harvest. Traditional vinification. Matured for 10 months: 10% in tuns, 30% in demi-muids and 60% in concrete vats.
