The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Roche de Bellene is an elite house. Its founder, Nicolas Potel, makes some of the most sensual wines in Burgundy. Very old vines, organic farming… are all finely regulated parameters that forge wines of great caliber, filled with sincere and abundant flavors of fruit.
Wine The 2015 White Burgundy is an exceptional, fully mature Chardonnay. It reveals a lovely ripeness balanced by refreshing acidity, with floral aromas in the forefront and supported by a chalky minerality. On the palate, it is full and expansive, offering a generous, well-integrated texture. There’s a refined hint of bitterness, and while it can age gracefully for another 2 to 3 years, it’s ready to enjoy now with freshwater fish, a salmon terrine, or cod in beurre blanc. A Selection Committee Favorite, rated 92/100.
Vinification Hand-harvested, malolactic fermentation carried out in full.
80% of the harvest matured in demi-muids and the remaining 20% in 228-litre barrels.
Average age of vines 48 years, surface area 2.30 ha, south-east exposure, clay-limestone terroir, altitude 245 m.
