It is incredible to think that the House of Antinori has been in the hands of the same family since 1385, a little over 6 centuries! This centuries-long history has not turned the House into an "old lady", on the contrary, its energy and boldness have brought about the transformation of an entire region and later of an entire wine country. A pioneer in the development of Tuscan wines, the Antinori family played a rebellious role, but above all they were true visionaries. Contrary to the codes of the time, Piero Antinori decided to lead his estate with the codes of the Grands Crus Classés from Bordeaux and in 1971 Tignanello was born! Very quickly he joined the round of the wines of the wine Olympus and the expression Super Tuscan appeared. Piero Antinori was right, he overthrew conventions and now the whole world looks at his wines with the admiration they deserve. This is an important step for Antinori, but its influence benefits the entire Italian wine industry. The approach taken in Tignanello has been extended to the entire Antinori empire. Discover this venerable institution that has allowed the development of a whole region and furthermore, the influence of Italian wine throughout the world!

26 generations

The Antinori family has been making wine for over 600 years. In fact, it was in 1385 that Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, the Guild of Florentine wine makers. For 26 generations, the Antinori family has personally managed the company. They are credited with making innovative and sometimes daring choices, always respecting tradition, the land and its environment. Today, Albiera Antinori is the president of Marchesi Antinori, closely supported by her two sisters, Allegra and Alessia, who are all actively involved. Their father, Marchese Piero Antinori, is the current Honorary President of the company.

The imprint of the terroirs

Historically linked to the terroirs of Tuscany and Umbria, the Antinori family owns vineyards in the Italian areas most conducive to the production of exceptional wines: Chianti Classico - where the family's historic estates are located, Bolgheri, Montalcino, and Montepulciano. Developing new and unique terroirs, exalting the potential of the vineyards and reconciling new discoveries with the heritage of the Tuscan style is the key to Antinori's success. The result is excellent wines, widely recognized internationally, that demonstrate elegance and finesse while maintaining their original character... The greatest strength of Antinori? Being Tuscan! Or more precisely, to know how to express and transmit its "Tuscanness" to the rest of the world.

Experiments and innovations

In its quest for excellence, Antinori evolves through a continuous process of experimentation and innovation, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Examples include the rigorous selection of native and international grape varieties, new approaches to fermentation and temperature control, the use of new types of oak for the barrels, and the different periods and lengths of aging in the bottle... A real experimentation laboratory! As Marchese Piero likes to say: "The old family roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never hindered our spirit of innovation". In this way, the Antinori family expresses the vast potential of its vineyards and excels in reconciling innovation with Tuscan heritage.

Te duce proficio

If the relentless pursuit of excellence is observed in the production process of the vintages, the Antinori family also makes it a point of honor to interpret and express the best potential of each of its terroirs. These efforts are part of a more global approach aimed at making the beauty of Tuscan and Umbrian wines known and recognized by all. Therefore, each vintage, each plot of land, each new partner or new idea is seen as a new beginning, a new opportunity to achieve this goal. Tradition, passion and intuition are the three driving forces that have led Antinori to become one of the most important families of Italian wine producers. The motto inscribed on the coat of arms of the Marquis Antinori - "Te duce proficio" - perfectly illustrates the idea of this quest for perfection!
