THE BIRTH OF A LEGEND
The story begins in the 17th century, when wine merchant Desmezures de Rauzan purchased the first vines. His daughter’s marriage to Baron Pichon de Longueville marked the start of a family estate that would thrive for generations. In the 19th century, the property was divided, with one part becoming Pichon Baron, where its famous Renaissance-style château was built. Crowned as a Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it is now owned by AXA Millésimes.
A UNIQUE TERROIR DEDICATED TO EXCELLENCE
The château’s excellence is rooted in its exceptional terroir: gravel-rich soils create ideal conditions for vine cultivation, while the natural elevation and oceanic climate of Bordeaux’s Médoc region enhance the production of Pichon Baron’s Grand Vin. With this unique terroir, the estate’s team brings out the best of Pauillac, helping to secure its place as one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious appellations.

A true testament to craftsmanship, Pichon Baron refines its vineyards with an approach tailored to each vintage. Vineyard work is meticulous—careful yield control, hand-harvesting, and precise sorting. In the cellar, close attention to vinification preserves the pure quality of the fruit, resulting in a wine with elegance, power, and length—a classic Pauillac that evolves beautifully over time.
