Still flying under the radar, Domaine Gilles Noblet is a true hidden gem for lovers of great wine. Family-run and fiercely independent, it sits right in the heart of Fuissé, crafting elegant White wines from Chardonnay grown on the limestone soils that have made the area famous.

These are finely etched, expressive wines — aged with precision in barrels and large oak casks — and they instantly won us over with their clarity and charm.

Rarely seen in France, the estate has set aside this excellent 2022 for us — and at under €20, it’s an exceptional find for the appellation.

The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Maison du Villard White is a textbook example of what these limestone-rich terroirs can deliver when handled with precision and care. With a clear mineral edge and beautifully judged oak aging, it’s a wine that hits all the right notes. The nose is fresh and inviting, with subtle hints of vanilla from the barrel and a delicate touch of almond syrup. On the palate, the mineral structure brings both volume and tension, while the oak is perfectly integrated — there to support, never overwhelm. A poised, finely crafted wine that will shine over the next six years. Rated 92/100 by our Selection Committee.
