Wine:

Vinified in amphora and beautifully executed by Elisabetta Foradori, the 2020 Red Vayots Dzor Karasi Areni delivers another success in this vintage. Its notes of blackberry jam, morello cherry, with a touch of cinnamon and spice, form a complex and refined nose. The palate is rich, with coated and powerful tannins. A great wine, as surprising as it is exhilarating, to pair with a boeuf bourguignon, a venison stew or a rib of beef, or an array of spicy dishes. A Selection Committee Favorite rated 94/100.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, one of the oldest grape varieties in the world, never grafted, massal selection, 100% indigenous. Vineyard located at an altitude of 1350 meters. Fermentation in thermo-regulated concrete vats, indigenous yeasts. Aged for 12 months in terracotta amphorae of different sizes (some buried in the ground and others on the surface), then aged for 6 months in bottles.

Dark red almost black with some carmine and violet reflections.

Nose:

Aromas of blackberry jam, morello cherry mixed with touches of spices, especially cinnamon.

Palate:

Rich and full with deep flavors of fruit, this wine offers a complex and refined palate, with still present tannins that are coated and powerful with elegance and without any rusticity.

Temperature:

Serve slightly chilled between 14 and 16°C in large glasses.

Food and wine pairing:

Beef bourguignon, venison stew, prime rib with rosemary sauce, grilled or roasted red meat.
