Wine:

A first for the estate! 100% Merlot, due to frost that reduced the harvest by 50%, the Château L'Evangile Pomerol Rouge 2017 exhibits beautiful depth, with notes of black fruits and flowers. The dense structure and silky tannins represent one of the most accomplished profiles of the vintage, produced under organic farming practices. Terribly delicious and will remain so for several more years. Rated 95/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Alcoholic fermentation for around 10 days in temperature-controlled concrete vats, total maceration time averaging 27 days. Malolactic fermentation and aging for 18 months in new oak barrels made by the Tonnellerie des Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in Pauillac.

Color:

Dark crimson red with beautiful intensity and brilliance.

Nose:

Black fruit aromas mixed with floral notes.

Palate:

Full-bodied and fresh, with luscious fruity flavors, this wine has a dense structure, silky tannins and a fine balance between depth, elegance and persistence.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Roast pigeon with porcini mushrooms, venison filet mignon, herb-crusted prime rib, 7-hour leg of lamb, matured Saint-Nectaire fermier cheese.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2035, and even longer for enthusiasts.

Ideally located at the heart of the greatest Pomerols, nestled between the most prestigious among them, Petrus, and Château Cheval Blanc, which marks the boundary with Saint-Emilion, Château lā€™Évangile consistently approaches the pinnacle of excellence. The property is owned by Domaines Baron de Rothschild, who also hold the legendary Lafite in Pauillac... It goes without saying that the level of excellence aimed for here is exceptionally high. In recent years, the vineyard has been managed using organic farming techniques with some trials in biodynamics, achieving certification in 2022.
