Vinification:

Hand harvested. Traditional vinification in thermo-regulated cement vats. Matured in French oak barrels.

Color:

Intense red-ruby.

Nose:

Very pure, spicy, delicate.

Palate:

Majestic as much by its tannic structure as by its perfectly mastered balance, this 1985 Petrus dazzles by its grandeur and its elegance.

Temperature:

Serve at 16 to 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Red meat and mushrooms, grilled beef flank steak, risotto with woodland mousserons and its full-bodied brown juice, dishes based on black truffles and cheese platter with priority given to farmhouse Saint-Nectaire cheese.

Petrus became, after 1945, the most famous cru of Pomerol. This unique clay soil, not very degraded, is favorable to the birth of an extraordinary Merlot, a wine with a phenomenal personality and power. It often takes twenty years for it to express itself and be appreciated at its true value. Its refined tension, depth and density, its taffeta texture and floral tones have charmed many a taster. President JF Kennedy and the famous Serge Gainsbourg were among its most loyal fans!
