Since 2021, under the direction of Laure Canu (formerly of Angélus) and with the guidance of oenologist Éric Boissenot, this cru has made significant strides while respecting its identity, avoiding trends, using minimal new oak, and benefiting from mature vines. With 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2023 vintage shines in an approachable style, featuring aromas of black fruits, cassis, and violet, with a well-rounded body and a long mentholated finish. We were delighted by the 2021 and 2022 vintages, and the 2023 continues in a more supple vein.

Nevertheless, Cantemerle remains among the most desirable Grands Crus Classés, combining the perfect stature of the wine with an unbeatable price. We rate it 93/100. It’s a great wine at an accessible price, so be sure to stock up!
