A rising star in Bordeaux, spearheading the Côtes de Bordeaux Francs sector, Château Puygueraud continues to win us over. In the stable of Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont, who preside over the destiny of Château Pavie-Macquin, this confidential cru is making a qualitative breakthrough that we can only be delighted about, given its price level. Situated on the rocky plateau that links it to Saint-Emilion, it forms a beautiful whole overlooking the Dordogne valley, partly on the famous asteriated limestone so dear to the great classified growths.
The 2023 vintage confirms its value, with a strong emphasis on Merlot. Juicy fruit, with hints of black cherry and spices, liquorice and flowers. A fleshy, seductive profile, the palate develops with voluptuous roundness, sapidity and a delicate tension that carries the wine through.
Quite simply, this is the kind of Bordeaux we love, ultra-precise and successful!
