Clos La Gaffelière - Saint-Emilion grand cru - Rouge - 2023

Always harmonious and precise, Château La Gaffelière is propelling itself to the forefront, playing elbows with the appellation's greatest names. Over the years, this prestigious cru (which has withdrawn its 1er Grand Cru Classé classification) has established its own style, one of the most brilliant of Saint-Emilion's Premiers.

Ideally situated on the slope that extends from Ausone, the 22-hectare vineyard has undergone a gentle revolution in recent vintages, with the emphasis on Cabernet Franc. The wine has delighted critics year after year, and is enjoying an ever-growing revival of interest and appeal.

The second wine, Clos La Gaffelière, is an irresistible bargain. Produced from slightly more clayey soils than the grand vin, it takes on the attributes of the grand vin in a more immediate version, not without good aging potential.

Now is the time to buy it, all the more so as its price remains reasonable for the level achieved. Particularly with this 2023 vintage, which makes it very attractively priced!
