Wine:

The 2019 Red Pessac-Léognan Les Hauts de Smith is a model of balance and suavity, pushed by a majority of Merlot grapes. It is an expressive and gourmet wine, which is already very pleasant to drink, with notes of juicy cherry and black fruits mixed with sweet spices, cocoa, and pepper. The ample, unctuous, and silky palate remains perfectly fresh and playful, forming a highly seductive wine with smooth tannins.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Double sorting and destemming of the berries. Fermentation in vats. Aged for 14 months in barrels (20% new wood) made at the château.

Certified organic agriculture.

Color:

Intense purple red.

Nose:

Rich and complex with beautiful aromas of red and black fruits, currant, plum and blackberry underlined by spicy notes of cardamom.

Palate:

Full-bodied and well structured, this wine offers a magnificent freshness, coated and easily digestible tannins. A long and persistent finish offering a beautiful freshness.

Temperature:

Serve at 16 to 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Peking pigeon and pea puree, rack of lamb and spicy carrots, Clavisy beef and beet in salt crust.
