Wine:

Nestled in a stunning landscape of orchards and vineyards, the 2020 Red Barbaresco Basarin is a magnificent wine crafted from 60-year-old vines. Sourced from sandy soils across two hectares, this Barbaresco is generous and highly seductive, with vibrant notes of black fruits, especially juicy cherry, spices, and a touch of noble oak. Full-bodied yet never overdone, its smooth tannins and concentrated structure offer perfect balance. On this sunny vintage, the estate has preserved the freshness and inherent delicacy that defines the appellation, with an added floral touch. A stellar vintage, rich and powerful yet refined, it’s best decanted for an hour or two. With a cellaring potential of 10 to 15 years, this wine is sure to evolve beautifully. Rated 93/100 by Parker and 95/100 by our Committee.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested, indigenous yeasts. Fermentation and maceration on skins. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aged 18 to 22 months in French oak barrels.
