Antoine Sanzay - Saumur-Champigny - La Paterne - Red - 2021

Wine:

The 2021 Saumur-Champigny La Paterne Red from Antoine Sanzay reveals the beautiful graphite notes of ripe Cabernet Franc, complemented by intense fruit and perfectly judged aging. This wine has a classic profile, with a velvety, fleshy texture and excellent depth. While it shows great aging potential, it’s also tempting to enjoy it now—just decant it or serve in large glasses. Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Fermented for 20 days in temperature-controlled concrete vats. Aged 9 months in cement vats, lightly filtered over white earth. Bottled in July 2022.

Certified organic wine.

Color:

Dark red, almost black, with violet highlights.

Nose:

Beautifully ripe Cabernet Franc underlined by intense, ripe fruity notes, all on a well-adapted ageing process.

Palate:

This wine, with its rich, velvety texture, reveals an extra depth on the palate that will prolong its aging!

Temperature:

Decant before serving between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Shoulder of lamb, roast duckling with spices, lamb tagine with prunes and apricots.
