Wine:

True to its Pinot Noir roots, the 2023 Red Osmoze Sancerre is a tribute to both the terroir and the grape. The fresh nose, with accents of red fruits and cranberry, introduces the wine with elegance and energy. On the palate, it’s crisp and juicy, with raspberry flavors, delivering a wine that’s pure, precise, and perfectly concentrated, with delicate tannins. This is a standout wine, known for its refreshing, slightly tangy profile, with an aging potential of 5 to 7 years. Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested from the terroirs of Verdigny and Sancerre, this wine undergoes a cold maceration for about 7 days, followed by a natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts for around 15 days in concrete tanks. The number of pump-overs and punch-downs varies depending on the vintage profile and daily tasting of the juices. After fermentation, the press and free-run juices are combined in concrete tanks, followed by aging on fine lees for about a year, with malolactic fermentation occurring naturally. The wine is then racked and allowed to rest before bottling.

This thoughtful and sustainable approach avoids the use of insecticides, acaricides, anti-rot treatments, and herbicides, leaning towards organic practices.
