Wine:

Sourced from multiple parcels in the village of Pierreclos, on the highest, stoniest slopes, the 2022 White Mâcon-Pierreclos once again captures the essence of Chardonnay. This is a pure expression of the limestone terroir of Les Cras, renowned for its complexity and finesse. Expertly fermented and vinified in oak, it offers a beautifully layered aromatic profile, revealing ripe yet impeccably balanced Chardonnay, with well-integrated oak and subtle toasted bread notes. The palate is generous and harmonious, with impressive volume, soft acidity, and delicate bitterness that adds tension. Rated 94/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Blend of several plots in the village of Pierreclos (vines over 50 years old) with low yields.
A unique selection of 1st juices from the press. Vinification under wood for 8 months, on lees for 7 months.

Color:

Pale, bright golden yellow.

Nose:

Aromas of exotic fruits underlined by peach, with a halo of pepper.

Palate:

Dense and structured, this wine delivers a rich, full-bodied, fresh, acidic, well-balanced juice.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Baked or en papillote fish, roasted Bresse poultry, dry goat's cheese.

From now until 2027, and even longer for enthusiasts.

Verget is a trusted name in Burgundy, a producer we hold in high regard and with whom we have built a strong relationship—so much so that we have crafted exclusive, tailor-made cuvées in collaboration with Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World, available only to our members.

Now under the expert guidance of Julien Desplans, who has overseen operations since 2016, Verget continues the legacy of Jean-Marie Guffens, championing the Burgundian style with precision. The estate is renowned for its racy, vibrant, and exceptionally fresh whites, as well as its equally impressive, fruit-driven reds. Like the finest Burgundies, these wines stand the test of time and consistently rank among the very best.
