Wine:

Bordering the Côte-Rôtie appellation to the south, the 2022 La Rosine Red (Vin de France) transcends its classification, standing out as a remarkable expression of its terroir. As Robert Parker describes it, this is “a little Côte-Rôtie that doesn’t know it yet.” The wine opens with enticing smoky and savory bacon notes, delivering a striking purity that feels effortlessly expressive. On the palate, it remains tightly structured, concentrated, and ripe, yet remarkably fresh, with fine-grained tannins. The result is a beautifully balanced, irresistibly flavorful wine that is ready to enjoy now but will continue to evolve gracefully for at least another five years. A Selection Committee favorite, awarded 93/100.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, partially destemmed (80 to 100%). Natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration for 18 to 21 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Aged for 12 months in 228-litre French oak barrels, no new wood.

Color:

Dark red with purple reflections.

Nose:

Beautiful smoky, streaky, bacon notes, characteristic of a mature Syrah, with great purity.

Palate:

Still tightly structured, with concentration and freshness balanced by ripe, juicy fruit flavors. The fine-grained tannins add texture, while the overall profile is rich and inviting. Approaching its peak, but no need to rush—it will continue to evolve beautifully over time.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Shallot tabbouleh, Sunday roast chicken, thick slices of beetroot sautéed with fresh thyme.

Cellar aging:

From today until 2029 and beyond for enthusiasts.
