Chapoutier - Saint-Joseph - Le Clos - Red - 2020

Wine:

The 2020 Saint-Joseph Le Clos Red is a pure Syrah of exceptional character. Aromas of ripe black fruit, particularly juicy cherry, are complemented by hints of graphite and subtle smokiness. The palate, with its restrained power, remains smooth and well-balanced, framed by refined, silky tannins. The finish beautifully reflects the granite soils, showcasing its impressive potential for aging.

Vinification:

Hand harvested in small crates. Alcoholic fermentation in 30 hl concrete vats with a maceration period of around 5 weeks. Matured in barrels (25% of which are new) for around 20 months.

Garnet red with violet highlights

Nose:

Delicately aromatic, with expressive aromas of black fruits, cherries and blackberries, underlined by a fine minerality and hints of graphite.

Palate:

The palate begins with a rich, smooth entry that sets the stage for a beautifully balanced structure. Fine, silky tannins support a broad aromatic range, leading to a long and precise finish.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Rib of beef with rosemary, quail with tapenade juice and potatoes, venison faggots with herbs.
