King of Spain and Manchuela, Juan Antonio Ponce challenges Rioja with wines that are astonishingly fresh and pure. Simply put, no one vinifies Bobal better than he does! Trained alongside Telmo Rodriguez, he took over his father's vines in 2004 and has since been producing wines that are clear, pure, and unadorned.
Noticed by Parker from his very first vintages, he brilliantly demonstrates that it is possible to produce top-quality wines in this region by practicing organic farming and rehabilitating indigenous grape varieties, relying on very old vines.
