Robert Parker: 95/100
Wine rated 92/100 by our Committee!

Wine:

The 2022 Pure Clairette Châteauneuf-du-Pape shatters all standards! This pure Clairette, from a single small parcel, is absolutely radiant, enhanced by precise aging in Stockinger foudres, demi-muids, and barrels, allowing its essence to unfold effortlessly. Upon opening, the slight woody accent marks the youth of this vintage, soon followed by a beautiful aromatic complexity with lemony and smoky notes, and above all, great freshness. The wood's patina serves only as support, adding extra breadth and richness to the wine. Its structure offers a fine, delicate dimension with beautiful minerality. A white wine for long aging that few will have the chance to experience. Rated 95/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested from 50-year-old vines. Fermented in small new Stockinger cooperage foudres (17HL) and demi-muids (5HL), then aged for 6 months.

Color:

Nose:

Beautiful aromatic complexity with mineral notes, a lemony touch and well-integrated toasty nuances.

Palate:

Full-bodied, with delicate tannins, it also reveals a brilliant minerality, a delicate structure and long persistence.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Citrus salmon fillet, stuffed chicken supremes with melting carrots, salt-crusted trout.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2034

A major player in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Usseglio Raymond & Fils is one of the most sought-after estates. Producing dazzling wines with sap and balance, it eclipses many of its peers due to its unparalleled consistency and class.

Always praised by the Parker Guide, it has become increasingly difficult to obtain their wines, as the estate is overwhelmed as soon as the vintage is released.
