Our committee's review
Saint-Émilion’s Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Figeac, stands unmatched. Its unique and distinctive style embodies the elegance and refinement of the appellation's western plateau, led by noble Cabernet Francs that elevate the estate, crafting wines of rare pedigree and remarkable character that evolve beautifully over time.
Year after year, the château reaffirms the depth of its 'modern classic' style, its unembellished precision, and its place among the elite few. With a history steeped in the legend of Saint-Émilion, a park of preserved trees fostering a perfect ecosystem, and a powerful terroir shaped by unique contours, the Manoncourt family’s estate has earned the highest accolades—4 stars in the Guide des meilleurs Vins de France (RVF) and unanimous international recognition.
Petit-Figeac, the second wine of the estate, holds its own: crafted from a dedicated parcel, it’s a true introduction to the Figeac spirit, showcasing effortless elegance. In 2016, it stands out as perhaps the finest second wine on the Right Bank.
The 2016 Red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Petit-Figeac has a generous 77% Cabernet in the blend, giving it that graceful yet structured style. With notes of dark fruit, a hint of spice, and a touch of blond tobacco, the wine shows impressive finesse—already so charming in this outstanding vintage. It’s a brilliant introduction to the grand vin.
The second wine of Figeac from the legendary 2016 vintage! Arguably the greatest second wine of the Right Bank.
