A pioneer in biodynamics, Michel Chapoutier has built his success on the excellence of his single-vineyard cuvées. In Saint-Joseph, a steep, hillside terroir, he crafts two outstanding wines from the appellation’s historic heart. Offered at an exceptional price, these are must-have selections.

The 2021 White Saint-Joseph Les Granits is made entirely from Marsanne, sourced from the oldest vines on this historic hillside in Tournon. The steep slopes require hand harvesting, and the grapes are carefully pressed and aged on lees to enhance depth and texture. The result is a beautifully aromatic, floral wine with notes of honeysuckle, honey, and white fruits, perfectly balanced. Its taut, mineral-driven palate leads to a lightly spiced finish, which will develop richer honeyed tones with time.

Grown on intensely rocky granite soils and sourced from the oldest Syrah vines in the appellation, the 2021 Red Saint-Joseph Les Granits captures the pure essence of its terroir. After long macerations, it is aged in oak for 18 months, developing remarkable depth and structure. This is a concentrated, smoky Syrah with intense black fruit notes and exceptional length. In this more classic vintage, it also showcases an added layer of finesse.
