In a standout vintage for Sauternes, the 2023 Château Guiraud upholds its rank with style and conviction. As a Premier Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes, Guiraud 2023 is a wine that will age beautifully and deserves a place in every enthusiast's cellar. With the arrival of Sandrine Garbay, former cellar master at Yquem for 25 years, and the efforts made over the past 15 years, including the transition to biodynamic farming, Château Guiraud appears to have reached new heights. This vintage confirms these efforts, capping a decade of constant evolution aimed at achieving purity and refinement in botrytis.
The 54 hectares of vineyard, nestled in a biodiverse environment and situated on unique sandy and clay gravel soils, favor Sémillon, which comprises 65% of this year's blend. The result is a complete wine with luminous botrytis, a dense, ample, and concentrated juice with bright acidity and notes of pineapple, grapefruit, and passion fruit. This fresh and pure combination is affirmed in a precise liqueur, free from any heaviness, with intense vibrancy.
The perfect sugar-alcohol balance—130 g/l for 13.8% alcohol—recalls the great balances of Sauternes that have made the appellation famous, and the mastery of sweetness here is exemplary. This is an essential bottle that will age gracefully!
