Wine:

Made entirely from Carcaghjolu Neru, a rare indigenous grape of the island, the 2020 Red Vin de France Donu di Cinarca is a wine of character, complexity, and charm. Aged partly in 500-liter barrels and jars for 30 months, it reveals intense floral notes of rose and wild berries, along with subtle smoky hints, all in a precise and refined profile shaped by its extended aging. The palate is beautifully structured, with a rich, smooth texture, ripe tannins, and a lively energy, complemented by spicy flavors and touches of stone fruit. Absolutely delicious! Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested early October. Cinarca terroir. 100% de-stemmed, not crushed, fermented in thermo-regulated truncated wooden vats for 3 weeks with indigenous yeasts. Aged for a minimum of 30 months, 2/3 in 500-liter barrels and 1/3 in 160-liter handmade terracotta jars. Production of 3,000 bottles.

Color:

Ruby with good intensity and brilliance, carmine highlights.

Nose:

Floral, rose, berry and pit fruit nuances mingle with smoky notes in a very precise, pure profile with a patina from the long ageing process, which gives it so much.

Palate:

This wine is full-bodied, smooth and tannic, with good ripeness, energy, spicy flavors and pit fruit accents on the palate.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Herb-crusted prime rib, stuffed goat shoulder, wild boar stew.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2028, and even longer for enthusiasts.
