Wine:

The 2021 red IGT Toscana Masseto comes from a small, clay-rich hillside, home to 7 hectares of Merlot, cultivated exclusively by hand. This pure Merlot vintage—a return to its roots without Cabernet Franc—offers a powerful wine that stays true to the estate’s style, shaped by extended aging in oak. Dark fruits, ripe cherry, spices, and cocoa create an intense and delightful aroma profile, complementing a generous, full-bodied structure. Once again, this wine reaches exceptional heights, a benchmark with legendary aging potential. Cellaring is an absolute must! Rated 95/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested in 15kg crates. The grapes are sorted and destemmed by hand. Each plot is vinified separately. Fermentation takes place in steel and wooden vats, followed by a maceration period of 21 to 28 days at a temperature of between 25 and 28°C. Next comes malolactic fermentation in 100% new oak barrels, after which the batches are separated for 12 months of maturation. The wine is then blended and returned to the barrels for a further year, for a total of 24 months. After bottling, the wine is aged for a further 12 months.

Color:

Intense, ruby red.

Nose:

Delicate aromas of concentrated red and dark fruits, intertwined with spicy nuances that unfold with aeration.

Palate:

This high-caliber cuvée offers an exceptional texture, with a silky touch and perfectly integrated, lace-like tannins. A true masterpiece.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Grilled red meats, rib of beef, rack of lamb, Italian cheeses.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2050 and beyond
