Wine:

The 2021 Red Saint-Joseph delights consumers with its fresh aromas of fruit, typical of an exceptional Syrah. A wine that is intense and persistent, with a superior complexity, a pure delight, with a fiery and promising juvenile character; notes of pepper, smoked ham, and a touch of balsamic that explore all the nooks and crannies of a pulpy and unctuous Syrah, with precise, silky, velvety tannins. A Selection Committee Favorite rated 93/100.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, partially destemmed, fermented in open vats with regular punching down and pumping over, aged for 12 months in 228 and 600 liter oak barrels.

Color:

Ruby red with purple reflections.

Nose:

Beautiful notes of fully matured syrah, pepper, balsamic and smoked ham flavors.

Palate:

Full-bodied and smooth with ripe flavors of fruit, this wine with a beautiful intensity profile has a complex palate, with precise, silky and velvety tannins.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Lamb chops with Provence herbs, grilled beef chop with shallots and vine shoots, roasted duck with liquorice.

A tutelary figure of Saint Joseph with 2 stars in the RVF Guide, the Bernard Gripa estate is inseparable from the success of the appellation. In this northern sector of the Rhone Valley where the grapes ripen well, the Gripa family, now led by son Fabrice, carries out a conscientious and accomplished work, responding both to a desire for sincerity and depth and a search for a more immediate richness and freshness.
