Wine:

The 2021 red Côtes-du-Rhône is unquestionably one of the leaders in its category, combining finesse and voluptuousness. Its velvety texture and great freshness, its chiseled texture preserved by aging in concrete vats, are seductive. Spices and fresh flavors of fruit take their place in a refined, balanced, elegant palate; a wine to drink or aging for another 5 to 6 years.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. 100% whole grapes, light crushing, vinification in 20-day vats for the Syrah and 21-day vats for the other grape varieties, with temperature control and daily pumping-over. Aged after blending in concrete vats. No filtration or fining. Bottled at the estate in early March 2023, early March 2022 and marketed from April 2023.

Certified organic wine.

Color:

Intense ruby red.

Nose:

Delicate aromas of ripe red fruits, raspberries, strawberries and cherries, underlined by notes of pepper and freshly cut herbs.

Palate:

Ample and generous, this wine delivers delicate, sapid, gourmet palate, silky tannins, and a balanced structure with pleasant, full-bodied nuances.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Barbecued meats and kebabs, artisanal charcuterie, Osso Bucco, oven-roasted chicken.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2029

Virtuoso of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the Charvin estate has been able to impose its vision and forge wines that are beautiful and faithful expressions of their terroir. Passionate and pragmatic, Laurent Charvin quickly took the path of organic viticulture, turning towards what is simplest, or in other words, the most natural, techniques. Using the whole harvest also gives the wines a remarkable silkiness, combined with highly complex aromas.

Considered an Olivier Poussier favorite, awarded 2 stars in the French RVF Green Guide and rightly acclaimed by wine lovers, Laurent Charvin is a reference of the winemaking world, imposing his refined style over the course of several vintages. Of course, his bottles are highly sought after and are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain.
