Domaine de Marcoux - Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Rouge - 2020

Wine:

Carried by one of the greatest vintages of the decade, the 2020 red Châteauneuf-du-Pape combines full maturity and freshness of fruit with a mastery rare enough to be noted. The nose sparkles with black berries and spices, candied orange, and garrigue, in a very pleasant primary phase that will blend over time. The substantial mouthfeel, supported by a consistent juice, aromas of black fruits, spices, and dry herbs, impresses. The structure is precise, the tannins perfectly integrated, providing the necessary relief to counterbalance this level of richness. A potential of 20 years is emerging! Rated 97/100 by the Committee.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested in 50 kg crates. Vinification with indigenous yeasts, maceration for 4 to 5 weeks. Aged in concrete vats and 350-liter tuns for 18 months.

Color:

Bright garnet red.

Nose:

Subtle aromas of tangerine and candied orange underlined by a herbaceous touch of garrigue.

Palate:

Magnificent concentration on the palate for this high-flying cuvée, combining silky, delicate red and black fruit. Elegant persistence reveals a finish marked by flavors of oriental spices and a hint of herbs.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Sweet-spiced duck breast, chanterelle and shallot fricassee, snacked beef pavé and reduced jus.
