The 2021 red Châteauneuf-du-Pape Julien Barrot is remarkable for its depth and bewitching perfumes, with a silky texture, a beautiful fruity presence and masterful balance. An outstanding ambassador for Châteauneuf, with the stylistic signature of that great winemaker Julien Barrot to boot.Vinification:
Hand harvested. Vineyard located to the north-northeast of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation on red clay soils with sandy predominance. Vines over 65 years old, with almost 50% Grenache.Underground gravity-fed cellar for delicate vinification. Vinification in concrete tulip-shaped vats. De-stemming of unripe stalks. Maceration longer than 4 weeks. Gentle extraction. Aged in concrete tulip-shaped vats, foudres and demi-muids for 18 months. No filtration before bottling.
Discreet and confidential, hard to find except for a few Michelin-starred restaurants, admired by critics and personally adored by Olivier Poussier, the best sommelier in the world, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to offer you this exceptional and rare allocation from Domaine la Barroche!
Julien and Laetitia Barrot cultivate old vines in the best areas of the appellation, near Rayas, producing providential wines available only on allocation, reserved for a select clientele.
The small volumes, the original aging in concrete vats, the initiatory nature of the address, its success, and aura make it a label much envied by connoisseurs and collectors who flock to its doors hoping to make the list.
