Wine:

The 2022 Red Échezeaux Grand Cru is nothing short of remarkable—a monumental wine built for the ages. Patience is key: decanting for several hours is essential to unlock its full potential. But once it opens up, the reward is extraordinary. The nose captivates with its purity and enchanting aromas of wild raspberry, displaying both precision and sensuality. A perfectly judged oak ageing complements the fruit without overpowering it, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship. On the palate, it delivers the same level of finesse and clarity—solid yet dynamic, with a silky, ripe texture, natural freshness, and already well-integrated tannins. This is a wine that demands time to reveal the full depth of its Grand Cru pedigree. While approachable now, thanks to its elegance and absence of harshness or overt oak, it has the structure to age gracefully for over a decade. A true masterpiece of Pinot Noir, awarded 96-98/100 and the Coup de Cœur of the Selection Committee. Take your time—greatness awaits.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Cold pre-fermentation maceration, slow fermentation with punching down of the cap at the start of fermentation. Aged for 12 months in barrels, 60% of which are new, followed by 6 months in stainless steel vats. Production of around 1,500 bottles.
Plot of 66 ares 10 in the lieu-dit En Orveaux, above Clos Vougeot. Vines over 50 years old.
Wine from an HVE (High Environmental Value) Level III certified farm.

Color:

Bright ruby red, with good intensity and depth.

Nose:

Remarkable for its purity, focus, and refined sensuality, it reveals entrancing aromas of wild raspberry, elegantly complemented by a delicate touch of oak that enhances its complexity without dominating.

Palate:

This wine offers a smooth, concentrated expression of ripe, silky flavours, supported by a solid yet lively structure. Its natural freshness enhances the balance, while the already polished tannins add elegance. An approachable Pinot Noir with no harshness or overt oak influence, it also has the depth to evolve beautifully over the next decade.

Temperature:

Decant 4 hours before serving between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Veal sweetbreads and forgotten vegetables, thick sautéed veal chop and fricassee of chanterelles, small game.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2034, and even longer for enthusiasts.
