Our committee's review
With 2 stars in the RVF Guide, Domaine des Ardoisières perfectly embodies the qualitative revival and ambition of Savoie.
Since 2008, Brice Omont has been the passionate artisan behind this remarkable estate, tirelessly working on the steep slopes of the Tarentaise. Biodynamic viticulture here is nothing short of heroic, with gradients reaching up to 70%, extremely low yields, and wines crafted primarily from co-planted and blended grape varieties.
The effort involved is immense and commands respect. In just under two decades, Brice Omont has elevated his estate to the pinnacle of Savoie winemaking, with a reputation that now extends far beyond the Alps.

The 2023 white Vin de France Silice, made from pure Jacquère, offers remarkable finesse and freshness. The subtle, restrained nose opens with a hint of linden, light and floral. On the palate, it is crisp and precise, with bright mineral notes and no hint of oak, complemented by delicate bitterness that adds persistence. A highly refreshing wine, perfect for an aperitif or paired with a warm Beaufort cheese soufflé. Rated 92/100 by the Selection Committee.
The 2023 white IGP Vin des Allobroges Argile is a blend of Jacquère, Chardonnay, Mondeuse Blanche, and a touch of Roussanne. Right away, you’ll appreciate the freshness and minerality that set the tone for this cuvée, as if you can feel the brightness of stone within a floral ensemble of great purity. The palate is salivating, fine, and airy, with a pure and elegant profile, free from ostentatious aging, allowing the essence of each grape variety to shine through. This cuvée took time to assert and develop complexity, but today it stands among the great wines of the estate. In our opinion, this is the finest Argile Blanc ever produced! A remarkable bottle for an aperitif, paired with alpine cheeses like a crumbly tomme, or perfect alongside perch, fera, or a butter-fried trout. A Committee favorite, rated 94/100.
The 2023 Red IGP Vin des Allobroges Argile is a refined blend of Gamay, Mondeuse Noire, and Persan, offering an impressively pure aromatic profile. At first, delicate smoky and savory notes reminiscent of fine Syrah emerge, followed by rich hints of cherry in syrup. The palate is pure and precise, with perfectly ripe fruit balanced by refreshing acidity and structured tannins. This wine is dense yet vibrant, with a crisp finish—though it would benefit from another six months of aging. A standout cuvée, rated 94/100 by the Selection Committee.
