Our committee's review

Clos Joliette is a true legend of Jurançon—a rare and highly coveted wine. This tiny 1.5-hectare amphitheatre, planted with century-old Petit Manseng vines, produces an extremely limited quantity each year: just five barrels, each offering a unique interpretation of the vintage with varying levels of sweetness.

Michel Renaud, the estate’s former owner, always embraced its uniqueness, even choosing to leave the appellation system, which cost Clos Joliette its official "Clos" designation. Yet the wine has retained its mythical status, sold in minute quantities and featured on some of the world’s finest Michelin-starred tables. Jean-Claude Berrouet, who crafted Petrus for over 40 years, hailed it as “the quintessence of an exceptional terroir,” while Bertrand de Lur Saluces likened it to his own Château d’Yquem.

In 2015, Lionel Osmin, a passionate advocate for the great terroirs of South-West France, took over from Michel Renaud. To honour the estate’s legacy, he organized a historic tasting of 19 Clos Joliette vintages, spanning from 1993 to 2013—all of which had never left the estate’s cellars. Fourteen seasoned tasters, including sommeliers Olivier Poussier and Christian Martray, were invited to this extraordinary event.

Today, these collector’s wines have been expertly curated and are available in 24 limited-edition sets. Each wooden case includes six bottles, each from a different vintage, offering a rare opportunity to own a piece of this remarkable legacy.

Only 300 cases of this exclusive Edition No. 7 have been produced. The bottles come directly from the estate, carefully labeled and sealed with wax to indicate their sweetness level: green wax for dry wines, yellow for off-dry, and orange for sweet or luscious styles.

This private collection offers the chance to experience six remarkable vintages: 1994, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2004, and 2007. Once this limited Edition No. 7 is sold out, these wines will never be available again…

Clos Joliette, the legendary Jurançon, returns with an exclusive Edition No. 7. These exceptional wines will never be available again… A rare privilege reserved for our VIP members.
