Wine:

With just under one hectare of very rocky soils and a limited use of new oak, the Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Red 2020 stands out with its powerful character, featuring notes of incense, smoke, and black fruits. This is a deep wine, of great stature, highly textured, with a concentrated core of fruit and velvety tannins. It needs time because after a few years, it reveals itself in great refinement, being elegant and approachable. Rated 93+/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested from a 0.85-hectare parcel of 45-year-old vines, grown in very rocky soil. Aged for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 20 to 30% are new.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large wine glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Duck tournedos with grapes, veal sweetbreads with black truffle, farm-raised Maine beef ribeye with coarse salt, truffle-stuffed chicken.

Cellar aging:

From today and until 2035 and beyond for enthusiasts.

A winemaking family deeply rooted in Burgundy since the 13th century, the Clergets continue their legacy with heart and passion. For nearly a decade, Domaine Yvon Clerget has been led by Thibaud, the family's brilliant progeny who performs exemplary work here.

With intelligence and patience, this exceptional winemaker crafts from 6 hectares of vines wines that are rich, complete, and expressive, perfectly in tune with their terroirs: Meursault, Vougeot, Corton, Pommard, and of course, the heart of the domaine, Volnay!
