Chapoutier Saint-Joseph - Les Granilites Rouge 2021

Wine:

A model of elegance, the 2021 red Saint-Joseph Les Granilites displays lovely aromas of crushed black fruits, violets, Zan and licorice, which will blossom even more after decanting or aeration in a tall glass. The smooth, even pulpy structure reveals a very mature Syrah, with concentrated juice and well-coated tannins, framed by well-integrated, appropriate ageing. A bottle that calls for tasty, rare, juicy meat just like it! Rated 92/100 by the Committee.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested, fermented in temperature-controlled concrete vats with indigenous yeasts, aged 75% in concrete vats and 25% in French oak barrels.

Color:

Bright, intense red.

Nose:

Bouquet of violets with hints of liquorice and crushed black fruit.

Palate:

Full-bodied and suave, with ripe fruit, this perfectly integrated cuvée offers concentrated juice and silky, well-coated tannins.

Temperature:

Decant before serving in large glasses, such as Gran Ultima, between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Roast quail, matured prime rib, leg of lamb, beer-battered beef cheek.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2028, and even longer for enthusiasts.
